6 villages of the Senegal valley (North of Senegal, between Saint Louis and Podor) will be equiped with a pumping system including treatment of the water from  the Senegal river : 

• These systems are similar to the pumping station of Ndiawdoune ou Guidakhar , built in 2001.
• Download the studies concerning the first villages : Ndiakhaye, Kharé et Fanaye Walo.

  10 villages near Louga will be equiped with a wind pump or a PV pump, a storage basin and public fountains.  It is the same design than during the period 1997- 2003.

From 1997  to 2003, 28 villages located in the Northwestern part of Senegal (near Louga and Saint Louis) have been equiped with pumping systems :

• 24 villages  use a windpump installed on an existing  well  with a depth from  20 to 35 m. Each installation includes the wind pump, two water tanks of 10 m³ each, a water distribution system and a fence in order to keep clean the water point.

• 2 villages  dispose of a solar pump.

• 2 riverside villages  have a pumping system including treatment of the water from  the Senegal river.

To benefit from a wind pump’s installation, the village must meet the following conditions :

The water must be intended to the whole community
To satisfy the technical criteria : less than 500 inhabitants, water to less than 30 metres, be situated in the Project Area of Alizes
To participate in the investment  in giving 400 000 FCFA ( about 610 Euros)
To subscribe an annual maintenance contract by an approved firm
To save up each year on a bank account or on a giro account for the equipment's renewal.
To form a committee for the waterhole's administration
To make a voluntary request to ALIZĖS
