The 1997-2003 Alizés programme in Senegal, drawing its inspiration from this in Mauritania, is composed of 6 main points, which are the keys of the success :

1. Equipment of 32 villages for supplying water of high purity to more than 10 000 people
2. Integration of the project into the State action
3. Valorization of a local renewable resource, the wind
4. Use of a tested wind pump, the Oasis wind pump
5. Local manufacturing by a firm from Saint Louis
6. Organization of the maintenance and of the equipment’s renewal.
